This event is presented by Meatless Mondays and Yondu with the goal of building up your repertoire of plant-rich recipes using Umami.

This hands-on cooking class will be lead by former el Bulli Chef Jaume Biarnés at Yondu Culinary Studio on Monday January 13th, 2020 6-8pm.

Understanding the 5th basic taste, Umami, can help home-cooks discover a new dimension of flavor for meatless meals. Umami and Vegetables are a winning combination that work together to add richness, balance bitterness, and simplify cooking at home with fewer ingredients.

In this workshop, Chef Biarnés will apply cooking tips & techniques to demo fast and vibrant vegetable dishes, elevated with a dose of vegetable umami . After tastings, you’ll be able to get in the kitchen and create a complete Meatless Monday meal from scratch. The evening will end with a family-style feast of dinner, dessert, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.
